WOODWARD'S BLOWING SMOKE

Perhaps this seems plausible to you:

TRENDING: Obama-Clinton ticket 'on the table,' Woodward says

Some called a Barack Obama-Hillary Clinton pairing the "Dream Ticket" in 2008. It didn't happen.

But what about 2012?

"It's on the table," veteran Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward told CNN's John King in an interview for John King, USA to air Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET. "Some of Hillary Clinton's advisers see it as a real possibility in 2012." ...

If so, I'd like to remind you of an earlier bit of Woodward prognostication, from August 2005:

... Speaking in the Paepcke Auditorium as part of the Aspen Institute's McCloskey Speaker Series, Woodward on Tuesday listed a number of reasons it is "highly likely" President Bush might implore Cheney to seek the Oval Office.

"He would be 67 if he ran and was elected. Reagan was 69. Republicans always like the old warhorse. ... Nixon was 68," said Woodward, best known for exposing the Watergate scandal that led to Richard Nixon's resignation in 1974. "Both parties like to nominate vice presidents. ... Cheney would do it, and I think it's highly likely, so stay tuned." ...

Woodward banged this drum for months -- three months earlier, he went on NBC and called Cheney a "serious dark horse candidate" for 2008, adding, "A guy named George Bush might come out and say 'What about Dick?'"

The guy does his research, grinds out his books, and then he tries to keep it interesting on book tours by talking nonsense this way. And people believe the books, so they believe the gossip. Don't be fooled.
